Supply Positioning

Supply positioning is a tool which helps the buyer to identify the fundamental differences between different categories of purchase and the different approaches to the market place which need to be taken.

The first step in developing a Supply Positioning analysis is to list all the category/categories of goods and services which are purchased.

The second step is to plot each of these categories on a two dimensional chart in which the x-axis represents the relative cost of the item (or category) and the y-axis represents supply exposure or potential vulnerability.
